About

A design studio with the machines in the next room.

DIVISION is a design and fabrication shop in Brooklyn. We run CNC routers and CO2 lasers, and we run an architecture studio — in the same building, on the same projects.

That's an unusual arrangement and it's the whole point. Designers who don't fabricate draw things that are expensive to make. Fabricators who don't design build exactly what they're given, mistakes included. We do both, so the detail gets pressure-tested against real material and real tooling before anyone commits.

The studio grew out of architecture, and the work still covers that range: interior renovations, large-scale sculptural installations, retail fixtures, furniture, and product. Different scales, same habit — draw it, cut it, and let the material have a say before anything's final.

Who we work with

Architects and interior designers who need millwork, paneling, and screens made properly. Brands who need retail fixtures and signage. Prop and set builders. Product designers who need a prototype by Thursday. People who arrive with a drawing and a deadline.
